Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, why it is used, and the limited circumstances in which another party may receive it. By using this website, you agree to the practices stated here.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or place entered in a search tool is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not retain or log those search terms on our systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

We may keep an email or direct message long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. It remains within our organization unless a valid legal duty requires disclosure.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a page loads, servers can automatically receive basic technical and usage details:

  • Page-view dates and times
  • The referring website, when one is supplied
  • Pages opened and the time spent on them
  • Device type and operating system
  • Browser name and version
  • The device's assigned IP address

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files stored on a visitor's device. Along with analytics services, they help produce combined traffic measures such as popular pages and exit points. Browser controls can block cookies, although doing so may change how some site functions behave.

What We Do With This Data

  • Routing a query to the provider selected through the search tool
  • Diagnosing faults and repairing technical problems
  • Maintaining performance, availability, and page speed
  • Understanding which resources visitors use most
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

We do not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Scott County guidance points to the sheriff, Iowa District Court, the Iowa Department of Public Safety's Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Iowa Sex Offender Registry. Public access to government records is governed by authorities such as Iowa Code chapter 22, while criminal-history dissemination follows chapter 692. Those government systems are separate from this site's visitor data. We are not a consumer reporting agency, and visitor information is not turned into a consumer report or a file about another person.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the embedded search tools. Their privacy policies, retention periods, and sharing practices apply to information entered there. We do not control those rules. Review the provider's policy before sending a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to sheriff pages, court portals, Iowa agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this website, the destination's own privacy policy governs the visit. Check it before providing personal information.

Advertising providers may use their systems to measure activity across websites and select targeted ads. Their tracking is not operated by us.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:

  • Analytics providers measuring traffic and site operation
  • Search providers processing a query submitted to their tool
  • Advertising networks serving ads on a page
  • A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable security practices are used to protect collected data. No internet service can guarantee complete security, however, and we cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.

Users Under 18

This website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If information from a minor is identified, we will delete it after receiving notice.

Your Data Rights

Privacy and consumer-protection laws that apply where you live may provide additional rights. Subject to lawful limits, you can:

  • Request deletion of personal data we hold
  • Ask to review the personal information kept about you
  • Seek correction of inaccurate information
  • Opt out of processing where the law gives that choice

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised. A change takes effect when the updated text and date appear here, so visitors should review this section for the current version.
